About
About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our project.
- Sherwood Forest Foodbank was opened by St. Edmund’s Church, Mansfield Woodhouse in 2013.
- We still operate in The Stable Centre on Church Street NG19 8AH
- We work under the banner of the Trussell Trust which supports a nationwide network of food banks providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty.
- The Trussell Trust also actively campaigns for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
- We are staffed entirely by a team of friendly, hardworking volunteers
- We are resourced entirely by generous donations of food and money from members of the local community
- We provide nutritionally balanced food parcels containing enough non-perishable food to last an individual, couple or a family for three days.
- We also provide essential toiletries, nappies, baby essentials and sanitary goods.
- We also provide seasonal treats, cleaning products and pet food for cats or dogs (as and when available)
- We serve the wide area covered by the Mansfield Deanery from Warsop to Ravenshead, Clipstone to Bull Farm
- Clients may come directly to the foodbank for their first visit
- We signpost clients to other agencies that can support them through their crisis.
- If you, or anyone you know, are struggling to provide food for themselves or their family please contact us – click here to see how
- Following a first visit, if still in need, clients must be referred to us by support agencies such social workers, support workers, some local schools and some local GP surgeries
